Wonders of Morocco in 10 Days from Tangier

Day 1

Tangier – Tetouan – Chefchaouen

Our driver, who speaks your language, will meet you at Tangier Airport or Port. If the schedule allows, we will freely visit the white medina of Tetouan; for late arrivals, this stop may be shortened or removed.

We will then continue towards Chefchaouen. You will have free time to explore its blue streets, the kasbah, the squares and the viewpoints over the Rif Mountains. You will spend the night in a selected riad in the medina, with breakfast included and dinner at your leisure.

Day 2

Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fez

After breakfast, we will travel to Volubilis, where you can explore its Roman ruins, mosaics and the Arch of Caracalla. The entrance fee and any specialised guide are not included.

We will continue towards Meknes to discover, depending on the schedule, Bab Mansour, El Hedim Square and the surroundings of the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Fez and stay in a selected riad. This will be the first of two nights, with breakfast included and dinner at your leisure.

Day 3

Fes – Guided City Tour

After breakfast, an official local Spanish-speaking guide will accompany you through the medina of Fez. The tour may include Bou Inania Madrasa, Nejjarine Fountain, the exterior of Al Quaraouiyine, the souks, the tanneries, the Mellah and the gates of the Royal Palace.

Entrance fees are not included and must be paid directly. The afternoon will be free for additional sightseeing or shopping. You will return to the same riad for your second night in Fez.

Day 4

Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi

After breakfast, we will head south. We will visit Ifrane and the cedar forest, where, when conditions allow, we may observe Barbary macaques without feeding or disturbing them.

We will cross the Middle Atlas and continue through the Ziz Valley to Erfoud. Lunch is at your leisure and visits to fossil workshops are optional. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Merzouga.

A camel ride, normally one camel per person, will take you at sunset to the Erg Chebbi desert camp. A 4×4 transfer may be requested in advance as an alternative. At the camp, you will enjoy Berber tea, dinner and accommodation; the category of the tent and the availability of a private bathroom will be confirmed in the quotation.

Day 5

Erg Chebbi – Khamlia – Old Mines – Nomad Families – Merzouga

After sunrise, breakfast and time to freshen up, we will begin a 4×4 tour around Erg Chebbi, adapted to the weather and track conditions.

We will visit Khamlia to respectfully discover Gnawa music and continue along old tracks, mining areas and viewpoints over the dunes. We may also share tea with a nomad family; the visit will depend on their location and availability and will never be presented as a spectacle.

Lunch is at your leisure. At the end of the day, you will stay in a selected hotel in Merzouga, where dinner and breakfast are included.

Day 6

Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate

After breakfast, we will head towards Rissani. When the market is open and the schedule allows, we will have the opportunity to discover its traditional atmosphere. We will continue towards the Todra Gorges to walk between their high walls; lunch is at your leisure.

We will continue through the Dades Valley, the Valley of the Roses and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, we may admire Taourirt Kasbah or optionally visit its interior and, if time allows, the film studios.

You will spend the night in a selected hotel or riad in Ouarzazate, with dinner and breakfast included.

Day 7

Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet – High Atlas – Marrakech

After breakfast, we will visit the ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will have time to explore its narrow streets; entrance fees to paid areas are at your own expense.

We will continue along the Telouet road. Visiting the interior of its kasbah is optional and will depend on road conditions and the schedule. We will then cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with panoramic stops whenever conditions allow.

In the afternoon, we will arrive in Marrakech. You will spend the first of two nights in a selected riad, with breakfast included and dinner at your leisure.

Day 8

Marrakech – Guided City Tour

After breakfast, an official local English-speaking guide will accompany you through Marrakech. Depending on opening hours, the visit may include the exterior of the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa, the souks and Jemaa el-Fna Square.

Entrance fees are not included. The afternoon will be free for shopping, museums or gardens. You will spend the second night in the same riad, with breakfast included and dinner at your leisure.

Day 9

Marrakech – Essaouira

After breakfast, we will travel approximately 190 km to Essaouira. During the journey, we may stop at an argan cooperative when it is open; the visit and any purchases are optional.

In Essaouira, you will have free time to discover the medina, the port, the ramparts and the beach, or enjoy fresh fish. Camel rides, water sports and other activities are not included.

You will spend the last night in a selected riad in Essaouira, with breakfast included and dinner at your leisure.

Day 10

Essaouira – Marrakech Airport

After breakfast, the schedule will be adapted to your flight time. If your departure is late, you may enjoy a final walk around Essaouira.

Our driver will transfer you directly to Marrakech Airport. The pick-up time will be arranged with sufficient time for the journey, traffic and departure formalities.

At the airport terminal, this 10-day tour will come to an end. The Viajes Almoravid team will say goodbye and thank you for your trust.
