Pick-up
Your accommodation in Merzouga – panoramic viewpoint of Erg Chebbi
The local driver will pick you up at the agreed time from your hotel, riad or accessible camp in the Merzouga area. From there, we will begin the tour around the dunes in a private 4x4 vehicle.
The first stop will be at a panoramic viewpoint where you can admire the vast expanse of the Erg Chebbi dunes and the camps located in the desert. You will have time to enjoy the scenery and take photographs.
Local life
Respectful meeting with a nomadic family
We will continue towards an area inhabited by nomadic families. Always with respect, with their consent and subject to their availability, you will have the opportunity to discover their way of life, their customs and how they adapt to desert conditions.
You will share traditional tea with them in a friendly atmosphere. This stop is designed as a respectful human encounter, and its format may vary in order to protect the privacy and daily routine of the host family.
History and culture
M’Fis mines – Khamlia village
The route will continue towards the old M’Fis mines, a place linked to the mining history of the region. The local driver will show you the surroundings and explain their importance in desert life.
The final main stop will be Khamlia, a village known for its community and its Gnawa musical tradition, with sub-Saharan roots. You will enjoy a performance of traditional music, learn more about this cultural expression and, if you wish, join the musicians in the dance.
At the end of the experience, you will return by 4x4 to your accommodation in Merzouga.
