Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Marrakech – Transfer to the Riad
Upon arrival, our driver who speaks your language will meet you at the airport, your accommodation or the exact agreed meeting point in Marrakech. The transfer will be made in a private, comfortable and air-conditioned vehicle adapted to the size of the group. From that moment, you will have our assistance throughout the entire tour.
Upon arrival at the selected riad in the Medina, you can check in and relax. Depending on your arrival time, you will have free time for a first introduction to Jemaa el-Fna Square, the souks and the atmosphere of the city.
You will spend your first night in Marrakech with breakfast included. Dinner will be at your leisure, allowing you to choose from the restaurants in the Medina.
Day 2
Marrakech – Guided Tour and Free Afternoon
After breakfast, an official local English-speaking guide will accompany you on a guided visit of Marrakech.
After breakfast, an official local English-speaking guide will accompany you during your visit to Marrakech. The morning itinerary will be adapted to opening times and may include Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the exterior of the Koutoubia Mosque, Ben Youssef Madrasa, the souks and Jemaa el-Fna Square.
Entrance fees to the monuments are not included and will be paid directly. The guide will help you understand the history, architecture and daily life of the Medina, while adapting the itinerary to your interests.
The afternoon will be free for shopping, relaxing or optional visits such as the Majorelle Gardens, subject to availability and reservation. You will return to the same riad for your second night in Marrakech; dinner will be at your leisure.
Day 3
Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
After breakfast, our driver will pick you up at the riad to begin the journey south. We will cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, located at more than 2,200 metres above sea level, with stops at viewpoints and near Amazigh villages to enjoy the scenery and take photographs.
On the other side of the mountains, we will visit the ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a large fortified adobe complex declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will have time to explore it and learn about its history; entrance fees to paid areas are optional. Lunch will be at your leisure during the journey.
In the afternoon, we will continue to Ouarzazate, known as the Gateway to the Desert. Depending on the schedule, we may visit the Kasbah of Taourirt or admire it from the outside. The day will end at a selected riad or hotel in Ouarzazate, where dinner will be served and you will spend the night.
Day 4
Ouarzazate – Skoura – Rose Valley – Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi
After breakfast, we will begin one of the most complete stages of the tour. We will follow the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs through the Skoura palm grove, the Rose Valley and the Dades Valley, stopping at some of the most interesting landscapes.
We will continue to the Todra Gorges, where there will be time to walk between their high rocky walls. The route will continue through Tinghir, Tinjdad and Touroug, with their palm groves, before reaching Erfoud, known for its fossils and stone workshops. Lunch will be at your leisure during the journey.
In the afternoon, we will arrive in Merzouga, at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes. We will leave the vehicle and begin the camel ride, normally one camel per person, to enjoy the sunset and reach the desert camp. Guests who prefer not to ride can request a 4x4 transfer in advance, subject to the confirmed package. At the camp, you will enjoy dinner, traditional music when scheduled and a night under the Sahara sky. The category of the tent and the availability of a private bathroom and shower will be clearly indicated in the quotation. This is a long day, and timings will depend on the stops and road conditions.
Day 5
Merzouga – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Middle Atlas – cedar forest – Ifrane – Fez
Those who wish may wake up early to watch the sunrise over Erg Chebbi. After breakfast and time to freshen up, we will return to Merzouga by camel or 4x4, depending on the booked service, and continue with our private vehicle.
We will pass through Rissani and travel up the Ziz Valley among palm groves, mountains and viewpoints. The road will then cross the Middle Atlas and the landscapes of the cedar forest. When conditions allow, we may observe Barbary macaques without feeding or disturbing them. We will also stop in Ifrane, known for its mountain architecture.
At the end of the day, we will arrive in Fez and the driver will drop you off at the selected riad inside or near the Medina. This is another long stage, and the arrival time may vary depending on traffic, weather and stops. The accommodation includes breakfast; dinner will be at your leisure.
Day 6
Fes – Guided City Tour
After breakfast, the visit to Fez will begin with an official local English-speaking guide. We will dedicate a large part of the day to discovering the historic Medina, its monumental gates, artisan quarters, souks and viewpoints, with explanations about one of Morocco’s most important imperial cities.
Depending on opening times and the group’s preferences, the itinerary may include Bou Inania Madrasa, Nejjarine Fountain, the exterior of Al Quaraouiyine Mosque and University, the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss, the tanners’ quarter and the Mellah. We may also visit the golden gates of the Royal Palace. Entrance fees are optional and will be paid directly.
Lunch will be at your leisure, and the guide will coordinate the continuation of the visit. At the end of the day, you will return to the same selected riad for your second night in Fez, with breakfast included and dinner at your leisure.
Day 7
Fez – Volubilis – Chefchaouen
After breakfast, we will leave Fez and travel to Volubilis, one of the most important Roman archaeological sites in Morocco. Entrance and the visit with a local guide are optional. Those who wish to enter can explore its mosaics, the Arch of Caracalla, the ancient villas and other archaeological remains.
After lunch at your leisure, we will continue towards the Rif Mountains and the city of Chefchaouen. Upon arrival, you will have the afternoon free to stroll around Uta el-Hammam Square, the blue streets, artisan workshops and viewpoints overlooking the mountainous surroundings.
You will spend the night in a selected riad inside or near the Medina of Chefchaouen. The accommodation includes breakfast; dinner will be at your leisure.
Day 8
Chefchaouen – Tangier – airport or port
After breakfast, the schedule will be organised according to your departure from Tangier. We will begin the transfer in a private vehicle from Chefchaouen to the airport, the port, your accommodation or the exact previously confirmed location.
If the flight or ferry departure time, traffic and the group’s schedule allow, we may arrange some free time or a short panoramic visit of Tangier. This possibility cannot be guaranteed if it could affect your punctual arrival at the departure point.
The driver will drop you off at the departure point with sufficient time. With this service, your eight-day journey through Marrakech, the High Atlas, the Merzouga Desert, Fez, Volubilis, Chefchaouen and Tangier will come to an end.
