Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Tangier – Tetouan – Chefchaouen
Upon arrival, our driver who speaks your language will meet you at Tangier airport or port. If you are already in the city, we can also arrange pick-up from your hotel or another agreed location. Throughout the tour, you will travel in a private, comfortable and air-conditioned vehicle.
If your arrival time allows, we will make a stop in Tetouan. You will have free time to discover its white medina, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and appreciate the Spanish-Moroccan influence preserved from its period as the capital of the former Spanish Protectorate. For late arrivals, this visit may be shortened or omitted to maintain a comfortable pace.
In the afternoon, we will continue to Chefchaouen, the famous blue city in the Rif Mountains. You will be free to explore its alleyways, squares, artisan shops and panoramic viewpoints. The pace of the visit will be adapted to your actual arrival time.
At the end of the day, you will stay in a selected riad in the medina of Chefchaouen. Accommodation and breakfast are included; lunch, dinner and drinks are at your own expense.
Day 2
Chefchaouen – Fez – visita guiada
After breakfast, we will depart for Fez through the mountainous and forested landscapes of the Rif. Arrival time will depend on traffic, stops and the time spent in Chefchaouen.
In Fez, you will meet an official local English-speaking guide to discover its historic medina, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Depending on arrival time, opening hours and the pace of the group, the visit may include the Bou Inania Madrasa, Nejjarine Fountain, the exterior of Al Quaraouiyine, the souks, the tanners’ quarter, the Mellah and the gates of the Royal Palace.
Entrance fees to monuments are not included and will be paid directly. If the available time does not allow the entire tour to be completed, the guide will prioritise the most representative sites. Afterwards, you will have free time to walk around or shop for handicrafts.
You will spend the night in a selected riad inside or near the medina of Fez. Breakfast the following morning is included; lunch, dinner and drinks are at your own expense.
Day 3
Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi
After breakfast, we will begin a long and varied journey south. The first important stop will be Ifrane, a mountain town located at more than 1,700 metres above sea level and known for its sloping roofs and alpine atmosphere.
We will continue through the cedar forest of the Middle Atlas. When conditions allow, we may observe Barbary macaques in their natural environment, always without feeding or disturbing them. We will then cross the mountains and descend through the Ziz Valley, passing viewpoints, palm groves and increasingly arid landscapes.
We will pass through Erfoud, known for its fossils and stone workshops. Lunch will be at your own expense and visits to workshops will be optional. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Merzouga, at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes.
From Merzouga, we will take a camel ride, usually one camel per person, to enjoy the sunset and reach the desert camp. Anyone who does not wish to ride may request a 4x4 transfer in advance, subject to the confirmed package. At the camp, you will be welcomed with Berber tea and enjoy dinner and an overnight stay. The tent category and availability of a private bathroom and shower will be specified in the quotation.
Day 4
Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate
Those who wish may wake up early to watch the sunrise over Erg Chebbi. Breakfast will then be served and there will be time to freshen up. We will return to Merzouga by camel or 4x4, according to the confirmed service, to rejoin our private vehicle.
Our first stop will be Rissani. When it coincides with a market day and the schedule allows, we may experience its traditional atmosphere. We will then continue to the Todra Gorges, where we will stop for a walk between the impressive rocky walls. Lunch will be at your own expense during the journey.
The route will continue through the Dades Valley and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing palm groves, Amazigh villages and adobe fortresses. Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, depending on the time and opening hours, we may view the Kasbah of Taourirt from the outside or optionally visit its interior. The entrance fee will be paid directly.
You will spend the night in a selected hotel or riad in Ouarzazate. Dinner and breakfast are included.
Day 5
Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech
After breakfast, we will head to the ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, an impressive fortified adobe village declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will have time to walk through its alleyways, discover its architecture and enjoy the panoramic views. Entrance fees to paid sites are at your own expense.
After the visit, we will head towards the High Atlas Mountains. We will cross the mountain range via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, located at more than 2,200 metres, with stops at viewpoints and near Amazigh villages whenever time and road conditions allow. Lunch will be at your own expense.
In the afternoon, we will descend towards Marrakech. Arrival time may vary depending on traffic, weather and the stops made during the day.
Our driver will drop you off at the airport, your accommodation or the agreed location in Marrakech. We do not recommend booking a flight based on an early estimated arrival time without confirming it beforehand.
With this transfer, the private five-day tour from Tangier to Marrakech will come to an end.
