Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
At the confirmed time, our driver who speaks your language will pick you up at the airport, your accommodation or the exact agreed point in Marrakech. You will travel in a private, comfortable and air-conditioned vehicle adapted to the size of the group, and you will have the assistance of Viajes Almoravid throughout the entire tour.
We will begin by crossing the High Atlas through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, located at more than 2,200 metres above sea level. We will stop at viewpoints and near Amazigh villages to enjoy the mountain scenery and take photographs. On the other side, we will visit the ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified adobe complex declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Entrance fees to paid sites are optional.
After a free lunch, we will continue through Ouarzazate and along the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, passing through the Skoura palm grove and the Valley of the Roses. At the end of the afternoon, we will arrive in the Dades Valley, where dinner will be served and you will spend the night in a selected riad or hotel.
Day 2
Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi
After breakfast, we will travel through the landscapes of the Dades Valley and continue towards the Todra Gorges. You will have time to walk between its high rocky walls and admire the canyon shaped by the river. The route will continue through Tinghir, Tinjdad and Touroug to Erfoud, known for its fossils and stone workshops. Lunch will be at your own expense during the journey.
In the afternoon, we will arrive in Merzouga, at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes. We will leave the vehicle and begin the camel ride, normally one camel per person, to enjoy the sunset and reach the desert camp. Guests who prefer not to ride can request a 4x4 transfer in advance, subject to the confirmed package.
At the camp, you will enjoy dinner, traditional music when scheduled and a night under the Sahara sky. Breakfast the following morning is included. The category of the tent and the availability of a private bathroom and shower will be clearly indicated in the quotation before booking.
Day 3
Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Tazarine – N’Kob – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate
Those who wish may wake up early to watch the sunrise over Erg Chebbi. After breakfast and time to freshen up, we will return to Merzouga by camel or 4x4, depending on the booked service, and continue with our private vehicle.
The first stop will be Rissani, the former capital of Tafilalet. When it coincides with market day and the schedule allows, we can experience its traditional atmosphere. We will then continue through Alnif, Tazarine and N’Kob, among plateaus, palm groves, cultivated areas and adobe villages. Lunch will be at your own expense during the journey.
Later, we will reach the Draa Valley and follow its extensive palm grove through Agdz. The day will end in Ouarzazate, where we will have dinner and spend the night in a selected riad or hotel. The duration of the journey will depend on the stops and road conditions.
Day 4
Ouarzazate – Kasbah of Taourirt – High Atlas – Marrakech – Essaouira
After breakfast, we will visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, one of the best-known historic sites in Ouarzazate. Entrance to the interior is optional and is paid directly. Afterwards, we will begin the journey towards the Atlantic coast.
We will cross the High Atlas again via Tizi n’Tichka and pass through the Marrakech area without visiting the city on this day. We will continue towards Essaouira, crossing landscapes that change from the mountains to the Atlantic plains, with reasonable stops to rest and have lunch at your own expense.
This is a long road journey and the arrival time may vary depending on traffic, weather and stops. At the end of the afternoon or beginning of the evening, we will arrive at the selected riad in Essaouira. Accommodation includes breakfast; dinner is at your own expense.
Day 5
Essaouira – Atlantic coast – Marrakech
After breakfast, you will have the morning and the first part of the afternoon to discover Essaouira at your own pace. You can stroll through its UNESCO-listed medina, visit the fishing port, admire the ramparts and enjoy the beach or local gastronomy.
The visit will be free and unguided. If you would like an official local guide or a water activity, we can arrange it in advance as an additional service, subject to availability. Entrance fees, lunch and activities are not included.
We will meet at approximately 4:00 p.m., or at the agreed time, to return by private vehicle to Marrakech. Arrival will be in the late afternoon or evening, and the driver will drop you off at the selected riad, where you will spend the night with breakfast included.
Day 6
Marrakech – Guided Tour and Free Afternoon
After breakfast, an official local Spanish-speaking guide will accompany you during your visit to Marrakech. The morning itinerary will be adapted to opening times and may include Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the surroundings of the Koutoubia Mosque, the souks and Jemaa el-Fna Square.
Entrance fees to monuments are not included and are paid directly. The guide will coordinate the itinerary to make the best use of the time and explain the history, architecture and daily life of the medina.
The afternoon will be free for shopping, relaxing or adding optional visits such as the Majorelle Gardens, subject to availability and reservation. You will return to the same riad for your second night in Marrakech; dinner will be at your own expense.
Day 7
Marrakech – Airport Transfer
After breakfast and check-out, the available time will depend on your departure schedule. If your flight allows, you can do some last-minute shopping, take a walk around the city or relax until pick-up time.
Our driver will pick you up with enough time and provide the private transfer to Marrakech Airport. If your departure is from the train station or another point in the city, we will adapt the service to the previously confirmed location.
With this transfer, the seven-day tour through the Atlas, the Merzouga desert, Ouarzazate, the Essaouira coast and Marrakech will come to an end. The Viajes Almoravid team will say goodbye, wishing you a pleasant journey home and hoping to welcome you back to Morocco.
