Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
Our professional driver who speaks your language will meet you at the airport, hotel, or agreed location in Ouarzazate. The program will be adapted to your arrival time to comfortably begin this private circuit.
We will head to the legendary ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, one of the finest examples of adobe architecture in southern Morocco and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will walk through its narrow streets and enjoy panoramic views of the complex, also known for having served as a setting for numerous film productions. Entrance fees to paid sites and a possible locale guide will be optional.
We will return to Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the desert and the capital of Moroccan cinema. You will spend the first night in a selected hotel or riad, with dinner and breakfast included. If the flight arrives late, we will adjust the visits without compromising rest or the remainder of the itinerary.
Day 2
Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Alnif – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi
After breakfast we will begin the route south through the Draa Valley, famous for its extensive palm grove, adobe kasbahs, and Berber villages. We will make scenic stops depending on available time and road conditions.
We will continue through the Alnif region, where lunch will be at your own expense, until reaching Merzouga and the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. There you will begin a camel ride, normally one per person, to reach the camp at sunset. Those who prefer may request 4×4 transfer in advance, provided it is included in the quote.
At the camp you will be welcomed with Berber tea. Dinner and accommodation are included. The tent category and availability of private bathroom and shower will be expressly confirmed in the quote.
Day 3
Erg Chebbi – Khamlia – Nomadic Families – Merzouga
Those who wish may rise early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast we will begin a 4×4 circuit around Erg Chebbi, adapted to track conditions and weather.
The day may include old tracks linked to the Dakar Rally, fossil areas and old mines, small oases, and viewpoints over the sea of dunes. We will visit Khamlia to respectfully experience the gnawa musical tradition and, when available, share tea with a nomadic family to learn about their way of life without making the encounter an intrusive visit.
Lunch will be at your own expense. At the end of the day you will stay in a selected hotel in Merzouga, with time to rest, dinner and breakfast included. Performances and cultural encounters depend on locale availability.
Day 4
Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
After breakfast we will leave Merzouga heading to Rissani. When the market is open and time permits, we can experience its traditional atmosphere. We will then continue to Erfoud, famous for fossils and fossilized marble; entrance to workshops or any purchases will be optional.
The route will continue to the Todra Gorges, where you will have time to walk between its high rock walls. Lunch will be at your own expense in the area.
In the afternoon we will travel to the Dades Valley through mountain landscapes, palm groves, and traditional villages. Dinner and accommodation will be in a selected hotel or riad in the valley, with breakfast included.
Day 5
Dades Valley – Valley of the Roses – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Airport
After breakfast we will begin the return to Ouarzazate via the Route of a Thousand Kasbahs. We will cross the Valley of the Roses and the Skoura palm grove, making scenic stops when time permits.
In Ouarzazate we may optionally visit the Taourirt Kasbah or the film studios, depending on their opening hours and flight departure time. Entrance fees are not included.
Transfer to the airport will take priority and will be carried out with sufficient time for departure procedures. There this five-day circular circuit from Ouarzazate with Viajes Almoravid will conclude.
