Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1

Tangier – Tetouan – Chefchaouen

On arrival, our Spanish-speaking driver welcomes you at Tangier airport or port. Pickup may also be arranged at your accommodation if you are already in the city. Travel is in a comfortable private air-conditioned vehicle.

When arrival time allows, we stop in Tetouan for a free walk through its UNESCO-listed white medina and an introduction to the Hispano-Moroccan influence of the former Spanish Protectorate capital. Following a late arrival, this visit may be shortened or omitted.

We then continue to Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. There is free time for its blue lanes, squares, craft shops and viewpoints. You stay in a selected medina riad, with breakfast included and dinner at your own expense.

Day 2

Chefchaouen – Fez – guided visit

After breakfast we travel through the Rif landscapes to Fez. On arrival, an official Spanish-speaking local guide introduces its UNESCO-listed historic medina.

According to arrival time, opening hours and the group’s pace, the visit may include Bou Inania Madrasa, Nejjarine Fountain, the exterior of Al Quaraouiyine, the souks, tanners’ quarter, Mellah and Royal Palace gates. Admission is not included and is paid directly.

There is free time afterwards for a walk or shopping. You spend the night in a selected riad in or near the Fez medina, with breakfast included and dinner at your own expense.

Day 3

Fez – Ifrane – cedar forest – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi

After breakfast we begin a long and varied journey south. We visit Ifrane, a mountain town at more than 1,700 metres, and continue through the Middle Atlas cedar forest. When conditions allow, Barbary macaques may be observed without feeding or disturbing them.

We cross the mountains and descend through Ziz Valley past viewpoints, palm groves and arid scenery. The route passes Erfoud, known for fossils and stone workshops. Lunch is at your own expense and workshop visits are optional.

In the afternoon we reach Merzouga. A camel ride, normally one camel per traveller, crosses Erg Chebbi at sunset on the way to camp. A 4x4 transfer may be requested in advance instead, subject to the confirmed package.

Berber tea, dinner and accommodation are provided at camp. The tent category and availability of a private bathroom and shower are specified in the quotation.

Day 4

Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate

Guests who wish may rise early for sunrise over Erg Chebbi. After breakfast and time to freshen up, we return to Merzouga by camel or 4x4 and rejoin the private vehicle.

When the market is open and timing allows, there may be time to experience Rissani’s traditional atmosphere. We then continue to Tinghir and Todra Gorge for a walk beneath its high rock walls. Lunch is at your own expense.

The route follows Dades Valley, Rose Valley and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. In Ouarzazate, according to timing, there may be an exterior view or optional interior visit of Taourirt Kasbah; any film-studio visit is also optional.

You stay in a selected Ouarzazate hotel or riad, with dinner and breakfast included.

Day 5

Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

After breakfast we visit the UNESCO-listed ksar of Ait Ben Haddou. There is time to explore its adobe lanes and enjoy the views; any paid entrances are at your own expense.

We continue through the High Atlas and cross the Tizi n’Tichka pass at more than 2,200 metres, making panoramic stops when weather and road conditions allow. Lunch is at your own expense.

In the afternoon we reach Marrakech. After drop-off at the selected riad, there is free time for an introductory medina walk. This is the first of two nights, with breakfast included and dinner at your own expense. Arrival time depends on traffic, weather and stops.

Day 6

Marrakech – guided city visit

After breakfast, an official Spanish-speaking local guide leads the Marrakech visit. According to opening times and the group’s pace, it may include the exterior of Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa, the souks and Jemaa el-Fna square.

Museum and monument admission is not included and is paid directly. The guide adapts the route to your interests while introducing the city’s history, architecture and daily life.

The afternoon is free for further visits, shopping, gardens or local cuisine. You spend a second night in the same Marrakech riad, with breakfast included and dinner at your own expense.

Day 7

Marrakech – airport transfer

After breakfast and check-out, the programme is adapted to your flight time. A late departure may leave time for final shopping or a walk, while keeping the confirmed pickup time in mind.

The driver collects you from the riad for the private transfer to Marrakech airport, allowing sufficient time for departure formalities and traffic conditions.

The seven-day journey from Tangier to Marrakech ends at the terminal. The Viajes Almoravid team thanks you for your trust and hopes to accompany you again in Morocco.
