100% tailor-made. This is a suggested private itinerary. We can adapt pickup, pace, accommodation and visits to your arrival and departure times.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1

Tangier – Tetouan – Chefchaouen

On arrival, our Spanish-speaking driver welcomes you at Tangier airport or port. Pickup may also be arranged at your accommodation if you are already in the city. Travel is in a comfortable private air-conditioned vehicle.

When timing allows, we stop in Tetouan for a free walk through its UNESCO-listed white medina. Following a late arrival, this visit may be shortened or omitted.

We then continue to Chefchaouen, where there is free time for its blue lanes, squares, craft shops and viewpoints. You stay in a selected medina riad, with breakfast included and dinner at your own expense.

Day 2

Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fez

After breakfast we leave the Rif Mountains and travel to the UNESCO-listed archaeological site of Volubilis. You may independently explore its Roman ruins, mosaics, columns and Arch of Caracalla. Admission and any specialist guide are not included.

We continue to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. According to timing and opening hours, stops may include Bab Mansour, El Hedim square and the area around the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Lunch is at your own expense.

In the afternoon we reach Fez. After drop-off at the selected riad, there is free time for an introductory walk. This is the first of two Fez nights, with breakfast included and dinner at your own expense.

Day 3

Fez – guided city visit

After breakfast, an official Spanish-speaking local guide leads the visit of the UNESCO-listed Fez medina.

According to opening times and the group’s pace, the route may include Bou Inania Madrasa, Nejjarine Fountain, the exterior of Al Quaraouiyine, the souks, tanners’ quarter, Mellah and Royal Palace gates. Admission is not included and is paid directly.

The afternoon is free for further visits, museums or craft shopping. You return to the same riad for a second Fez night, with breakfast included and dinner at your own expense.

Day 4

Fez – Ifrane – cedar forest – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi

After breakfast we begin a long journey south. We visit Ifrane and continue through the Middle Atlas cedar forest. When conditions allow, Barbary macaques may be observed without feeding or disturbing them.

We cross the mountains and descend through Ziz Valley past viewpoints and palm groves. The route passes Erfoud, known for fossils and stone workshops. Lunch is at your own expense and workshop visits are optional.

In the afternoon we reach Merzouga. A camel ride, normally one camel per traveller, crosses Erg Chebbi at sunset to camp. A 4x4 transfer may be requested in advance instead, subject to the confirmed package.

Berber tea, dinner and accommodation are provided at camp. The tent category and availability of a private bathroom and shower are specified in the quotation.

Day 5

Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Guests who wish may rise early for sunrise over Erg Chebbi. After breakfast and time to freshen up, we return to Merzouga by camel or 4x4 and rejoin the private vehicle.

When the market is open and timing allows, there may be time to experience Rissani. We then continue to Tinghir and Todra Gorge for a walk beneath its high rock walls. Lunch is at your own expense.

The route follows Dades Valley and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. In the late afternoon we reach a selected valley riad or hotel, where dinner, the overnight stay and breakfast are included.

Day 6

Dades Valley – Rose Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

After breakfast we follow Dades Valley and Rose Valley to Ouarzazate. According to timing, there may be an exterior view or optional interior visit of Taourirt Kasbah; admission is paid directly.

The next stop is the UNESCO-listed ksar of Ait Ben Haddou. There is time to explore its adobe lanes and enjoy the views. Lunch and paid entrances are at your own expense.

In the afternoon we cross the High Atlas through Tizi n’Tichka pass at more than 2,200 metres, with panoramic stops when conditions allow. We reach Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening depending on traffic and weather.

This is the first of two nights in a selected Marrakech riad, with breakfast included and dinner at your own expense.

Day 7

Marrakech – guided city visit

After breakfast, an official Spanish-speaking local guide leads the Marrakech visit. It may include the exterior of Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa, the souks and Jemaa el-Fna square.

Museum and monument admission is not included and is paid directly. The afternoon is free for further visits, shopping, gardens or local cuisine.

You spend a second night in the same Marrakech riad, with breakfast included and dinner at your own expense.

Day 8

Marrakech – airport transfer

After breakfast and check-out, the programme is adapted to your flight time. A late departure may leave time for final shopping or a walk.

The driver collects you from the riad for the private transfer to Marrakech airport, allowing sufficient time for departure formalities and traffic.

The eight-day journey from Tangier to Marrakech ends at the terminal. The Viajes Almoravid team thanks you for your trust.
